COMPETITION FOR ADMISSION OF STUDENTS IN THE FIRST YEAR AND (FIRST) CYCLE OF STUDIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ZENICA IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026 (FIRST ENROLLMENT DEADLINE)

The competition for student enrollment in the first year of the first (first) cycle of studies at the University of Zenica in the academic year 2025/2026 (First enrollment period) lasts from June 18 to July 2, 2025.

Ranking of candidates and entrance exams at the Faculty of Medicine will be held from July 4 to July 11, 2025.

The faculties of the University of Zenica will provide complete information on their notice boards and the faculty website about the place and time of submitting documents, as well as taking entrance exams for study programs of the faculties of the University of Zenica where entrance exams are planned.

Admission of accepted students to the faculties of the University of Zenica will be done according to the faculty plan in accordance with the adopted Student Enrollment Plan for the first year of the I (first) cycle of studies at the University of Zenica in the academic year 2025/2026.

NOTE: Admitted students who do not enroll within the previously determined deadline will be considered to have withdrawn from enrollment in the study program of the faculty of the University of Zenica to which they applied.

Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, foreign citizens and stateless persons who have completed a four-year secondary school in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as candidates who have completed secondary school outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and who, after the recognition or nostrification procedure, have been determined to have completed the appropriate education to continue their education, have the right to participate in the Competition.

Exceptionally, candidates who graduated from secondary school outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina have the right to participate in the Contest even before the process of recognition or certification of the certificate of completed secondary education abroad, with the attachment of appropriate evidence of the initiation of the aforementioned procedures. The aforementioned candidates can enroll after the completion of the recognition procedure, i.e. the certification of completed education abroad, no later than the beginning of the academic year 2025/2026.

The ranking of candidates is carried out by special committees appointed by the deans of the faculties of the University of Zenica.

The selection of candidates will be carried out based on the Decision on the criteria and standards for determining the order of admission of candidates for the enrollment of students in the first year of the first (first) cycle of studies at the University of Zenica, which forms an integral part of this Competition, as well as individual criteria of the faculties of the University of Zenica for evaluating grades in subjects relevant to the respective study and evaluating the results of entrance exams at the faculties of the University of Zenica at which the entrance exam is scheduled to be taken.

The ranking list and list of admitted candidates will be published by the faculties on the notice board and the faculty website, after they have been verified by the competent authorities, for faculties where the entrance exam is scheduled to be taken no later than five days from the last day of taking the entrance exam, and for other faculties no later than five days from the closing date of the Competition..

Candidates who apply for the Competition for enrollment in the first year of the I (first) cycle of studies attach the following documents:

  1. an application for enrollment that precisely specifies the study program/department to which the applicant is applying,
  2. certificates of completed classes of high school completed in BiH for a four-year period, i.e. appropriate documents on the implementation of the recognition or certification procedure for candidates who completed high school outside of BiH,
  3. high school diploma,
  4. birth certificate,
  5. certificate of citizenship,
  6. other documents relevant for determining the number of points according to the criteria.

Candidates attach the documents listed under point b), c), d), e) and f) in original or certified photocopy (with certification not older than 6 (six) months from the date of publication of the Competition).

Candidates who benefit from the rights under the Law on Supplementary Rights of Defenders and Members of Their Families ("Official Gazette of the Zenica-Doboj Canton", No. 15/24) must, in addition to the previously mentioned documents, also submit the following documentation:

  • certified house list,
  • income certificates of household members,
  • certified copy of the identity card,
  • confirmation of the status of members of the military population and their family members.

A defense attorney and a member of his/her family, who is a full-time student, have the right of priority under equal conditions when enrolling in faculties of the University of Zenica, in accordance with Article 22, paragraph (1) of the Law on Supplementary Rights of Defense Attorneys and Members of Their Families ("Official Gazette of Zenica-Doboj Canton", No. 15/24) and the Regulation on Priority in Education of Children of Defense Attorneys ("Official Gazette of Zenica-Doboj Canton", No. 1/25).

For the enrollment of candidates from the categories: children of martyrs, killed, deceased, missing defenders; children of killed, deceased, missing recipients of war recognition or decorations; children of deceased war invalids and deceased demobilized defenders; members of the Roma nationality; persons with disabilities over 70%; persons without parental care who are wards of institutions for the accommodation of children without parental care in the Zenica-Doboj Canton; persons whose parents/guardians are beneficiaries of social assistance, and who have their residence in the Zenica-Doboj Canton, and who apply for full-time studies (financed by the Founder) and pass the entrance exam, or do not achieve the required number of points according to general and special criteria at faculties where an entrance exam is not foreseen, and do not enter the quota foreseen by the Enrollment Plan, the Cantonal Government shall issue a special decision on granting consent to increase the number of students for enrollment. The decision on granting consent to increase the number of students for enrollment shall be issued based on the request of the University of Zenica.

Candidates for enrollment in the first year of the first (first) cycle of studies at the faculties of the University of Zenica in the academic year 2025/2026 shall prove their status as members of the Roma population by submitting one of the following documents showing their membership in the Roma population: school certificate, birth certificate, marriage certificate, voter registration certificate or some other document containing information about their membership in the Roma population.

Candidates for enrollment in the first year of the first (first) cycle of studies at the faculties of the University of Zenica in the academic year 2025/2026 must prove their status as a person with a disability exceeding 70% by submitting a document from a competent medical institution.

After both enrollment deadlines have passed, the competent authorities of the University of Zenica faculty will determine:

  1. For a study program for which the enrollment quota provides for 31 or more students, classes are held if at least 50% students out of the number provided for by the enrollment quota for that study program are enrolled in that study program.
  2. For a study program for which the enrollment quota is 30 or fewer students, classes are not held if at least 10 students are enrolled in that study program.
  3. Exceptionally from the previous point, classes may be held in study programs with fewer than 10 students enrolled, for justified reasons, at the proposal of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, with the consent of the Cantonal Government.
  4. A reasoned request for teaching in study programs in accordance with the previous point shall be submitted by the Senate of the University of Zenica for approval to the Cantonal Government through the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
  5. The request from the previous point must be submitted no later than September 19, 2025, and can be submitted at most once for the 2025/2026 academic year.

If the study program does not meet the requirements for teaching, admitted candidates will be offered enrollment in study programs with remaining enrollment places according to the established Enrollment Plan.

For all faculties that do not accept the planned number of candidates in this enrollment period, a Call for Applications (SECOND ENROLLMENT DEADLINE) will be announced on August 25, 2025, and documents will be received from August 25 to September 19, 2025.
